3 years ago I made the conscious decision to voluntarily separate from the United States Navy and feed my entrepreneurial spirit. That’s how I ended up in Real Estate.
The Navy has a long tradition of awarding sailors for his/her accomplishments. The first photo was during my final award ceremony at NOTU, my “Departure Ceremony”. This is where I received my final award and farewell from my shipmates.
As you can see, the handsome gentleman in the first photo is also in the second photo (not talking about me people). His name is John Sager, Captain Sager for you military types.
Yesterday, I had the honor of attending John’s final NOTU ceremony, his Change of Command. That is the photo on the right.
6 months ago, when John first found out that he was going to be transferred to SOCOM, HQ’d in Tampa, he knew he needed to sell his beloved property in Merritt Island. I was the first and only person he contacted to help with that.
I’m having a hard time coming up with the words to describe the feeling I had when I first heard from John, but I was absolutely blown away that my former Commanding Officer called on me to help. He informed me of his transfer and asked if I would help sell his house. In typical military fashion, my response was, “YES SIR!!!”
Over the last 6 months, I have had the ultimate honor to get to know the John Sager behind the uniform. The father, husband, dog lover, classic car collector, boater, and all around amazing human.
Due to Navy regulations, interactions between Enlisted and Commissioned Officers are highly restricted, it’s called fraternization. Thankfully, I’m no longer in the Navy and had the extreme privilege to truly get to know this man and be considered his friend. Add that to the short list of reasons why I’m thankful I separated.
John has a strong passion for Brevard County and will be back, that I’m sure of. I will be looking forward to the day when I can assist with getting you and your family back to Brevard, but in the meantime, enjoy the hell out of Tampa.
Thank you for demonstrating great leadership, allowing me to assist with your transition to Tampa, and including me in your life.
Love you man.
