Should You Stay or Should You Go?

Coming into the holiday season, a lot of people are asking, should I list my home in December or wait till after the holidays in January? And I always say, let’s look at the data. According to the data, there are 41% more homes on the market compared from December to January and only 9% less home sales. Laws of supply and demand, say the fewer homes on the market, the higher price that you’re likely to receive.

My advice would be to go ahead and list your home in December versus January before that rush of homes comes on the market. When you’re thinking about this though, make sure that you’re getting all the marketing collateral ready before you get your holiday decorations up so it doesn’t date the property as far as when it came on the market.
