A Gated Entry Into Refined Coastal Living

The foyer opens to a soaring custom 2-story contemporary glass enclosed staircase with natural light, art spotlights and a striking Arteriors organic carved wood chandelier. To the right, the foyer leads to stunning 10’ ceilings and a wall of eight-foot hurricane rated French doors that allow the morning light and ocean reflection to pour into the open concept living, dining and kitchen. The focal point of the open space is a custom designed contemporary walnut entertainment center featuring illuminated shelves, a flush inset for the 75” TV (with articulating arm) and 74” Dimplex Ignite heated fireplace. Layered lighting was an important consideration in the home design. Channeled lighting frames the ceiling while glass block sconces provide adjustable downlighting for the day or night. The adjacent dining area is topped with a lighted tray ceiling and Moooi shell-inspired chandelier. Side walls are illuminated with spot lighting for artwork.

Opposite the living/dining area is a dream kitchen designed for optimum efficiency, but also to be a fluid and integral part of the activities and conversations. The two-tone contemporary kitchen embodies craftsmanship with walnut cabinets complemented by contemporary white Euro cabinets. Premium appliances include a Wolf induction range and hood, Dacor commercial refrigerator/freezer, Cove and Fisher & Paykel dishwashers. Metal finishes, dual islands—each equipped with its own sink and cabinetry—and Calacatta Gold quartz surfaces and continuous backsplashes complete the clean, uncluttered look. The kitchen is full of modern “must haves” including an appliance garage for a microwave and air fryer and a coveted coffee bar garage, both with pull-out drawers and doors that fold back into the cabinet, Pegged dish drawers, pullout knife drawers and blind corner pull-out provide endless storage and convenience.

A Renovation for the Future
The overarching plan for the TurtleGate 2021-2023 renovation focused on livability, bespoke materials and timeless design with the most modern updates. As a parttime residence or permanent home, maintenance was a key factor in all decisions. This smart house is 100% wired for the Control4 platform management system that remotely controls security, the front gate, lighting, the music system, televisions and HVAC. Lutron blinds cover every window and are controlled either by a remote APP or in-room remotes. The highest-grade luxury vinyl flooring was selected for ease of maintenance and is visually striking as a continuous palette throughout the house. New wiring, plumbing, dry wall, hurricane doors/windows and high grade closed cell insulation were included in the total “gut” remodel. The oceanfront living/dining/kitchen areas and upper deck are 100% new construction. The footprint was extended from the original house, walls were reimagined and the entire interior transformed. Dual Trane HVAC units with an additional air purifier and a whole house Aquansana water filtration system with UV light translate to layers of confidence for a clean living environment. A standing seam metal roof topped the entire project.

Outside block walls reinforced with rebar and concrete then covered in stucco surround 400’ of the property. Newly constructed front walls with lighted Ipe wood topped pillars and automated gate were added. Side personal gates, also with turtle logo cutouts, enclose the house and front of the property. Nearly 1,000 feet of second level decking with custom Southern Cross railings - with kynar cured finish - was added. Exterior lighting was incorporated into overhangs and between corbels for softer lit pathways and durability. An outdoor shower, new white pavers, an additional beachfront privacy fence and all new irrigated landscaping and lighting were incorporated.

Continuing the Coastal Modernism Inside Tour
Moving back to the foyer, there’s a private half bath with a decorative sink in the hall leading to a tranquil secondary downstairs master with crisp architectural lines and an ocean view. The custom walk-in closet provides generous storage. Inside the private en-suite bath, matte-finish marble tile, a glass-enclosed shower, dual sinks, and Calacatta Gold quartz create a spa-like clarity. French doors open onto the side patio and allow glimpses of the shoreline to influence the room’s calm, coastal tone while offering convenient access for guests or multigenerational living. The foyer also opens into an inviting den with a sophisticated Taj Mahal quartzite wet bar—with smoked-glass backdrop, wine cooler, coordinated cabinetry, and bar sink. A suspended television and comfortable seating create a warm extended entertainment area. Just off the den is a fully equipped laundry room, storage closet and service entrance.

Wake to Sunrise over the Ocean
Ascending to the second floor reveals the home’s most compelling expression of its oceanfront position. A loft-style sitting room and upstairs master suite span the width of the house, French doors open to a partially covered 900 sq. ft. balcony that frames the Atlantic in full panorama, with views extending northward toward the Cape and south to open ocean. The suite feels intrinsically connected to the water; the balcony becomes an extension of daily living, offering unbroken sightlines over the dunes and shoreline. Sunrises are spectacular and afternoon light makes the expansive deck perfect for entertaining.
